Smart City executives to discuss options at upcoming convention sales conference

Event planners and convention attendees continue to request that free WiFi connectivity be included in their lease agreements. Executives from Smart City Networks, the nation’s leading event technology provider, will be discussing the differences between service expectations and system requirements necessary for WiFi options during presentations to convention sales professionals on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Convention Sales Professionals International (CSPI) 2014 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

David Langford, Smart City’s vice president of technology, and Janet Allen-Smith, Smart City’s general manager at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., will be offering new marketing ideas for WiFi options during their presentations to the 100-plus convention sales professionals scheduled to attend the conference from across the country. These presentations are a continuation of Smart City’s efforts to provide ongoing technology education to members of the meetings and events industry.

Their presentations will focus on what WiFi options are currently being offered at convention centers and how these options can be marketed to potential conventions. By understanding the WiFi options, convention center sales teams can better create the best wireless experience for their attendees as well as balance an event manager’s anticipated needs with their expectations.

Other topics include the importance of maintaining and continuously upgrading a facility’s network. They will also discuss sponsorships of free WiFi at events and the potential of location-based services in generating new revenue streams.
