Smart City Networks quadruples bandwidth for 2011 CES

In order to meet the greater Internet connectivity requirements for the 2011 International CES, Smart City Networks quadrupled the bandwidth available at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), increasing the system’s capacity from 1 gigabit (GB) to 4 GB, enabling a faster transfer of significantly more data via the Internet.

CES, the world’s largest consumer technology trade show, showcases the most cutting-edge electronic products, many of which now utilize the Internet. In fact, it is expected that one of top trends at the 2011 International CES will be “Internet-enabled everything” meaning that the Internet will be an integral component of not only phones and computers but more consumer products than ever before, such as cars, cameras, printers and televisions.

Smart City’s bandwidth upgrade will better accommodate the many Internet-enabled products on display, offering exhibitors fast and reliable Internet connections to demonstrate the products’ capabilities. In addition, Smart City has made arrangements with their providers to implement further upgrades with little to no notice, further exemplifying the need to find flexible partners with unique solutions for a technology intensive environment like the International CES.

In addition to the 2,700 exhibitors Smart City Networks is providing services for, CES expects over 120,000 tech savvy attendees who will use their own Smartphones, laptops, tablets and other devices, all requiring Internet connectivity. Smart City Networks anticipates that the 2011 CES will record the greatest use of Internet connectivity and WiFi service in the history of the event. The 4 GB bandwidth upgrade will ensure a faster and more reliable WiFi service to meet this increased demand.

“Internet connectivity is important for every event, but none as much as the International CES,” said Mark Haley, President of Smart City Networks. “CES showcases the latest and greatest electronic products, many of which now utilize the Internet for functionality. We quadrupled the bandwidth for the 2011 CES to ensure that all of these products as well as the thousands of CES attendees have a fast and reliable Internet connection.”

Smart City Networks has been the leader in providing of wired and wireless event technology at the nation’s major convention centers for over 25 years and has provided the event technology at CES for more than 10 years.
