Smart City Renews Tampa Contract

Deal Ensures Reliable Data, Communications for Next Two Years

Smart City Networks will continue to be the official provider of digital communications services at Tampa Convention Center (TCC) meetings and events for the next two years.

The contract extension calls for the nation’s events technology and telecommunications provider to leverage its expertise and advanced technologies to deliver clear, reliable digital services throughout the convention center’s 600,000 square feet. Smart City’s on-site management and technical team will administer the company’s large-scale PBX system, a comprehensive data network and wireless local area network for the center’s extensive lineup of conventions and trade shows.

“I am delighted that our partnership with the Tampa Convention Center will extend into 2018,” Smart City Networks President Mark Haley said. “Our team is eager to maintain the high level of service venue management has come to expect through our innovative design and implementation of tailored technology solutions.”

Haley noted that the contract renewal came at an auspicious moment, just in time for the company to provide flawless voice, data and WiFi coverage for IBM Amplify, the tech giant’s massive conference covering the experiential integration of digital marketing, customer analytics, e-commerce and service fulfillment.

Fittingly, it was another major IBM event that introduced TCC visitors to Smart City’s impressive capabilities.

Smart City’s original two-year contract was scheduled to begin in mid-May 2014. But with IBM’s Smarter Commerce Global Summit 2014 event looming, the company agreed to take over management and implementation of the convention center’s digital infrastructure a few weeks early to assure a successful event.

Smart City’s ability to meet the event’s pressing need by bringing together vital processes and expert technical skills under a tight deadline set the groundwork for its relationship with TCC.

“That first event immediately demonstrated our employees’ can-do attitude,” Haley said. “IBM was impressed, and by demonstrating our commitment to serve not as merely a vendor, but as a technology solutions partner, Smart City cemented a mutually beneficial, long-term working relationship with the TCC.”
