Smart City Networks installed and maintains a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the Charlotte Convention Center to provide improved cellular connectivity. During the 2013 International Convention Center Conference, Smart City will offer behind-the-scenes tours of the state-of-the-art DAS technology that is keeping people connected. Members of the media are welcome to attend the tour.

WHERE: Tour will leave from the convention center’s security office and end at the NASCAR Hall of Fame
RSVP: amaier@bpadlv.com

As the facility’s longtime technology provider, Smart City installed a DAS at the Charlotte Convention Center last year, and the system debuted at the 2012 Democratic National Convention to ensure the thousands of delegates and media representatives had reliable cellular connectivity.

Made up of mini antennas throughout the facility, a DAS provides stronger signal strength and more consistent cellular coverage throughout a building. All cellular carriers can utilize the DAS to deliver their signals and service.

A DAS network works well in a convention center as it boosts mobile broadband in large areas or places where objects such as steel columns or concrete can interfere with wireless signals.

Events benefit from increased coverage and capacity in the facility for smartphones and tablets, improved call clarity and higher data throughput for attendees. Additionally, carriers can upgrade their services more quickly benefiting customers seeking improved connectivity.
