Smart City to Discuss Trade Show Connectivity Challenges at Tradeshow News Network Webinar

At Smart City Networks, we know that the demand on our wireless networks continues to increase. On Tuesday, Sept. 25, Trade Show News Network (TSNN) will be hosting a webinar to discuss the challenges facing Internet connectivity at convention centers and how some shows and facilities are keeping visitors connected. We encourage you, as our partners, to join us for this webinar to learn more about industry trends in wireless connectivity and how facilities and shows are working together to keep attendees connected.

Smart City’s Vice President of Technology, David Langford, along with representatives from our partner facility, the San Diego Convention Center, and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) will take part in the webinar to discuss what show organizers and facilities need to be considering to ensure attendees get connected and stay connected at their events.

For example, this past June, ISTE and the San Diego Convention Center welcomed more than 18,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors. The annual tech savvy event demands one of the highest rates of Wi-Fi connectivity of any show at a facility in which Smart City Networks serves. This year, we brought in an additional 2 gigabits (GB) of bandwidth to meet the event’s anticipated WiFi demand, as well as laid more than 18,650 feet of cable for the wired network connections.
During the TSNN webinar, the presenters will discuss the following:

  1. How a show, venue and supplier worked together to ensure proper connection at a show.
  2. What questions a show organizer should you be asking to a venue and Internet supplier to ensure your show has no connection issues.
  3. What issues currently exist in maintaining connectivity at shows and how are they going to be resolved in the future.

Langford has developed the voice and data networks for more than two-dozen of the nation’s most prestigious convention centers. At Smart City Networks, he directed the design and implementation of the Las Vegas Network Operations Center (NOC), which monitors the networks at more than 36 facilities across the country. In addition, he led the technical team for the design and installation of the Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the Charlotte Convention Center, served as the technical liaison between Smart City and the U.S. State Department at the G-20 Global Economic Summit at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, and oversaw the technical services provided at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, D.C.
