Big changes are happening at Smart City Networks. A recent corporate restructuring saw an expansion of roles and duties for some of our executives and we’re incredibly excited in how they position our company for future growth and development. Two members of our Smart City family that we specifically wanted to highlight and congratulate are Dennis O’Gara and Julia Slocombe.

Dennis previously was the Vice President of Operations for our East Region and has seen his role expanded as our new Senior Vice President of Operations and Products & Services. Dennis’s existing operational accounts will continue to report to him as they do currently, but he’ll also now oversee developing and recommending future products for the company. Dennis brings with him 22 years of experience in the convention, trade show, and sporting industry and we’re excited to see his new vision for our company as he works to develop game-changing offerings that will revolutionize how events use technology services in the future.
Dennis recognizes that technology has turned from “nice to have” to “must work flawlessly” in venues to ensure a successful event and it’s why he believes it’s important to always remain on top of overall tech trends and consumer interests over time. Reporting to Dennis will be Jen Way, who also has been promoted to a new role of Director of Products and Services. Together, Dennis and Jen will work to maintain our company’s reputation as a leading voice in the telecommunications industry and keep Smart City Networks at the top of this extremely competitive field.

Julia has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations and Industry Relations. She previously was the Vice President of Operations for our West Region and while Julia will continue to be responsible for the Western Operations, she’ll also have a new focus in expanding our industry associations and relationships. Industry associations help us develop our network and grow our reputation, which is a vital component to being successful in the long run, especially as we adjust to this new normal.
“A renewed focus on Industry Relations will help us stay on top of emerging trends and help Smart City reach new and exciting heights.” Julia said.
This role requires someone who excels at working with people and can establish a positive relationship with almost every person they meet, which is why Julia is perfect for this new initiative. For the last 25 years, Julia has been a vital member of our Smart City family and her expertise and knowledge of this industry is unparalleled. We are thrilled at the new direction she will take us in. On top of taking the lead in our company’s involvement in industry associations and relationships, Julia will also work to develop a company-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan that will be implemented in the near future.
With the recent return to normalcy in our industry, Smart City Networks felt it was time to reevaluate our priorities to better position ourselves for new growth. As a company, we’re always striving to reach the next level and with Dennis and Julia taking on these new roles, we’re confident in Smart City’s continued rise to the very top!
