Summer has officially begun! Normally, Smart City Networks use these Monthly Highlights to showcase a wide variety of different events out in the field, but this month we decided turn the spotlight inward and reflect on an incredibly active month at our corporate office. June was jampacked with sporting celebrations, safety demonstrations, and the sudden reveal of hidden artistic ability, all happening in Vegas! Let’s dive into the details!
CONGRATULATIONS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS!
June was a great time to be a hockey fan in Las Vegas. Our Vegas Golden Knights successfully won the Stanley Cup, marking the first time the relatively new franchise has taken the gold. We have a lot of hockey fans in our office so the finals kept everyone buzzing. Now for a funny story. We had our corporate mid-year outing scheduled for June and it saw our office gather together after hours to enjoy a minor league baseball game at Aviators stadium. In what first seemed like an unlucky coincidence, the night of the baseball game turned out to be the same night as the Knights’ final game against the Florida Panthers. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We had rented a private suite for the baseball game, and that allowed us to all gather together to watch the Knights win, followed by hanging out and relaxing with some baseball. Overall, it was an awesome night and I’m glad the corporate office got to experience that win together.
CPR SAFETY
One of our core business principles is “Continually Improve Processes,” and while that mainly means working to improve our professional lives and the work we do for our customers, there’s something personal about that principle as well. We should always try to improve ourselves and strive to be the best we can be. That means taking advantage of free training whenever we can get it. June saw a lot of of our office members take a CPR training session and now we all know what to do in case of an emergency. (Plus, we now all know the lyrics to ‘Stayin’ Alive’ so that’s a win-win!).
ARTISTIC GENIUS!
At our corporate office, we always strive to create a fun, engaging atmosphere for our team members. Each month, we try our best to organize games or activities that would best promote camaraderie. In June, Pictionary was presented as a potential game and the end results far exceeded our expectations. We kept the format simple, meaning you come up, pick a word, then the whole office guesses while you draw. Initially there was hesitation, but then something awesome happened. What started as a casual game, soon became an event where everyone took a turn to show off their artistic genius. Our President, Mark Haley was very encouraging toward all of us and soon, everyone in the room had taken a turn at the board. It was a great moment of team bonding for all of us! (And yes, some of us still made it competitive because that’s the type of people we are!)
