Smart City Networks June 2025: Progress & Partnerships

June overflowed with highlights that showcased our dedication, innovation, and heart across Smart City Networks. Major events, community initiatives, and a little national recognition all reminded us why we love what we do. Enjoy this month-in-review for June 2025 and see how our teams made an impact!

Supporting Events Across the Country

Throughout June, Smart City was proud to provide essential connectivity for some of the industry’s most influential events. At MPI World Education Congress (WEC) in St. Louis, our team kept more than 2,500 attendees connected at America’s Center Convention Complex, where Chris Pendleton, Dennis O’Gara, and Tommie Beltz connected with event professionals and association leaders.

In Orlando, we powered InfoComm 2025 at the Orange County Convention Center, delivering reliable internet and Wi-Fi for thousands of audiovisual professionals. From load-in to tear-down, our Orlando team ensured the show’s tech needs were fully met with precision and care.

And on the West Coast, we supported the continued growth of TechEx North America at the Santa Clara Convention Center. With 122 exhibitors and 5,000 attendees taking over the full venue for the first time, General Manager Tami Perez and her team provided seamless service to help innovators and startups thrive.

No matter the coast or the crowd, we’re proud to help bring these events to life through strong, dependable connectivity.

Supporting San Diego

Smart City proudly sponsored the 2025 Congressional Luncheon hosted by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. Business, community, and policy leaders gathered downtown to discuss issues shaping the region with members of Congress.

President Mark Haley, Sr. VP Julia Slocombe, and Director of Regional Operations Shawn Lowery attended the luncheon and connected with Chamber COO Jessica Anderson. The event followed our recent Wi-Fi 6 upgrade at the San Diego Convention Center, which powered a record-breaking Cisco Live earlier this month and will keep upcoming shows like ESRI and Comic-Con running at peak performance.

Giving Back at The Great Big Backpack Build

Living our core value “We Care and Give Back,” the Orange County Convention Center team rolled up their sleeves for The Great Big Backpack Build. In just a few hours, 1,000 backpacks were packed for students in need across Orange and Osceola County public schools.

Thank you to Mitchell Hughes, Mary Rivodo, Tiana Rivera, Jacqueline Glendy, Kiana Salomao, Kate Palenzuela, and Jacob Stinson for making a difference alongside 500 volunteers and 36 corporate partners. When communities thrive, we thrive too.

Future-Proofing NRG Park for the World Stage

Houston delivered big news this month: Smart City won the competitive bid to continue our long-standing partnership with NRG Park. Upgrades will introduce Wi-Fi 7 across NRG Center, NRG Arena, and key outdoor areas, perfect timing for seven matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These improvements also support iconic events like the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and every Houston Texans home game. We are honored to help prepare this venue for global attention.
