Smart City Networks had a great start to 2025, with a productive January filled with major technological advancements, impactful industry events, and meaningful community service opportunities.
From network upgrades at key convention centers to providing seamless connectivity at industry-leading conferences, our team showcased their expertise and dedication every step of the way.
Strengthening Events with Seamless Connectivity
At PCMA Convening Leaders 2025 in Houston, our team proudly provided 100% of the telecom services for this flagship event in the business events industry. Partnering with the George R. Brown Convention Center, we ensured reliable Wi-Fi for attendees, dedicated AV networks, and robust bandwidth to power the General Session, breakout rooms, and registration areas. Our seamless service allowed thousands of professionals to connect, collaborate, and push the industry forward.

Meanwhile, at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, we delivered a comprehensive wireless buyout at the Miami Beach Convention Center, ensuring fast, reliable internet for exhibitors across the show floor. Our wired services at critical locations like the loading docks and registration areas kept operations running smoothly, reinforcing our expertise in crafting customized event solutions.
Investing in Innovation: Major Network Upgrades

Behind the scenes, our team worked tirelessly to enhance the network infrastructure at multiple venues. In Kansas City, our wireless upgrade project at the Kansas City Convention Center brought together teams from across the country to modernize power and network capabilities. Joined by VP of Central Operations Tim Wortman and General Manager Rey Crespo from Dallas, the project showcased our all-hands-on-deck approach to driving connectivity improvements.
Over in Phoenix, we completed a major network overhaul at the Phoenix Convention Center, replacing core switches, firewalls, and other critical components. Led by two of our dedicated Network Administrators, the upgrade required back-to-back, sleepless nights to ensure a smooth transition, demonstrating our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence.
Empowering Our People: The PET Program

At Smart City Networks, we take pride in fostering career growth for our employees. January marked another milestone as we celebrated the Q4 graduates of our Promotional Evaluation Testing (PET) program. From technicians to customer service representatives, each participant showcased dedication, hard work, and a commitment to learning. Their success highlights our ongoing investment in developing future leaders within our company.
We Care and Give Back: A Month of Service
Beyond technology, we believe in making a difference in our communities. January was a time to highlight recent work by a few of our teams across the nation.
- In Orlando, our team volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank, assembling over 10,300 box lunches to help fight food insecurity.
- In Phoenix, our team supported St. Mary’s Food Bank, sorting donations and packing food boxes to assist local families in need.
These initiatives, along with many others highlighted in our latest Pinnacle magazine, which was also released in January, reinforce our company’s core values, dedication to service, both inside and outside of convention centers.

Smart City Networks’ January 2025 has come to a close. As we step into the rest of 2025, we remain committed to innovation, excellence, and community engagement.
